The over 40's competition is a really good social, but very competitive way to play cricket with 12 fixtures from the beginning of May until the beginning of August. Should we get out of the group, there is a finals day competition and once I know more details of that, I will share that in due course.
For many of us, it'll be an opportunity to play at grounds we've either never played at or at least not for a long time. In our league, we'll play on Neston's front pitch, at Oxton, at Irby, at Chester Boughton Hall's lovely ground, at Upton and at Tattenhall. Most are within 10-15 minutes drive with a couple a little further away but no more than half an hour.
There will of course be a match fee to be paid which covers the cost of teas (for the most part, these will be one pot affairs eg spag bol or chilli) and with this being our first season in the competition, we're still working that cost out but it won't be out of line with what players pay on a Saturday.
If you're interested in playing all, or some of the games, perhaps you can drop me an email or text with your contact details on so I can start compiling a list of who would like to play?
Captain: Gary Laycock
For those of us who play on Saturday, a T20 is quite a bit better than a net. For those of us who don't play at all on a Saturday, either because it takes too long or because our partners have reached stage 3 or 4 of the 'cricket widow charter,' T20 on a Wednesday is little more than a 3 hour game on some very beautiful LOCAL grounds. You'll love it, it's a perfect opportunity to play again...
Looking forward to hear from you.
Thanks and regards,
