Set in the picturesque surroundings of Paton Field, Caldy is the thriving Junior section of Caldy Cricket Club. As an ECB Clubmark accredited club, with a full compliment of dedicated and highly qualified coaches, we offer a safe and fun environment for our Juniors to learn to love the game of Cricket.
Sessions are run on Friday evenings from 5:30 – 7:00 pm for the U9s, U11s and U13s, and 6:30 – 8:00pm for the U15s and U17s.
If your child is keen to give cricket at Caldy CC a try please come along to one of our Friday coaching sessions for a trial session. We usually start the first Friday after the clocks go forward, at the end of March or beginning of April, and run through until the schools break for the summer holiday.
If you decide to register then please print off and fill in a copy of our registration form and hand it in at the next coaching session. Membership subscriptions for Under 9's are £65, with the other age groups at £90.
For school year 3 and under please see All Stars Cricket.
Under 9s - under 9 on 31st August 2016 i.e. in school year 4. Here we play Kwik Cricket, using plastic bats and balls, with pairs of batsmen at the crease for a limited number of overs. If a batsman gets out, he/she loses runs but carries on batting, swapping ends with his/her batting partner. We also try to ensure that everyone gets to bowl. Matches are played on Sunday mornings from the beginning of May until the schools break up for the summer holiday.
Under 11s - under 11 on 31st August 2016; school years 5 and 6. Matches are played in the same format as Kwik Cricket, but using a "real" cricket ball (of junior size). So protective equipment is needed. Matches are played on Sunday mornings from the beginning of May until the schools break up for the summer holiday.
Under 13s - under 13 on 31st August 2016; school years 7 and 8. The matches are maximum 25 overs per team, a junior ball is used. No-one can bowl more than 4 overs and batsmen retire at 35. Otherwise, it's "the real thing" - if you're out first ball, that's the end of your batting for the day, and lower-order batsmen may not get in to bat. Matches are played on Sunday mornings from the beginning of May until the schools break up for the summer holiday.
Under 15s - under 15 on 31st August 2016; school years 9 and 10. Cheshire League matches are played on Sunday mornings from mid April until the schools break up for the summer holiday. These are maximum 25 overs per team. Wirral League matches are played on a Tuesday afternoon in the summer holidays, and these are a longer format (75 overs in total). Both use a full-sized ball.
Under 17s - under 17 on 31st August 2016; school years 11 and 12. These matches are maximum 20 overs per team and are played on weekday evenings beginning mid June and extending into the summer holidays.
Where to find us
If it's your first time visiting the club the address can be found at the bottom of the ‘About Us’ section, where there is also a link to a map. If you have any questions about the Caldy Cougars please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
We are always on the lookout for volunteers. Whether you are a former cricketer, or new to the game and would like to learn more, we can offer advice, and financial support, to help you take part in a variety or courses run by the ECB and Cheshire Cricket Board. If you're interested in Umpiring, Scoring, Coaching qualifications, or simply helping out on match days, we'd be delighted to hear from you.
All aspects of the day to day running of the club and provision of coaching are run by a team of dedicated volunteers. However each year we rely on support from our sponsors and various fundraising activities to maintain our facilities, provide equipment and host cricket matches.
